Itronix
Itronix Corporation develops rugged computing products for mobile workers in many industries, including field service, utility, military and government, public safety and others. Their Duo-Touch Tablet PC is a rugged slate tablet pc designed to resist weather, drops and other abuses. The Itronix Duo-Touch is especially designed for wireless operation, with both 802.11 a/b/g and EVDO available.
One of the unique features of the tablet is the dual function screen. A user can choose to use it as a passive touch screen tablet or as an active digitizer. It is also designed to meet MIL-STD 810-Fspecifications which makes it an excellent choice for demanding environments. They even have a video on their website showing the Duo-Touch fan continuing to run while the unit is immersed underwater!
The Duo-Touch uses Intel’s Ultra Low Voltage processor to provide longer battery life and improved thermal management. Integrated GPS provides the ability for companies to track personnel and assets in real time. The shock mounted 40Gb hard drive has an optional heater for usage in very cold environments.
While rugged systems have a larger form factor and higher weight than regular tablet PCs, the benefits of ergonomic and rugged design make the Duo-Touch the perfect choice for demanding field applications.
